have a full plate Literally, you have no more room for food on your plate. Figuratively, it can mean that you are very busy, that you have no time for any additional tasks. Another form of the phrase is 'I have a lot on my plate'.

Baroque music "stabilizes mental, physical and emotional rhythms,""to attain a state of deep concentration and focus in which large amounts of content information can be processed and learned."

Start with your favorite tunes from Psychologist Don Campbell’s list here and tell us how music alters your mental states. In his book The Mozart Effect, Campbell shows the following results for listeners: Gregorian chant creates quiet in our minds and can reduce stress. Slower Baroque music, such as Bach, Handel, Vivaldi or Corelli, can create mentally stimulating environments for creativity and new innovations. Classical music, such as Haydn and Mozart, often improves concentration and memory when played in the background. Romantic music, such as Schubert, Schumann, Tchaikovsky , Chopin and Liszt, enhances our senses and increases a sense of sympathy and love. Impressionist music, such as Debussy, Faure and Ravel, can unlock dreamlike images that put us in touch with our unconscious thoughts and belief systems. Jazz, blues, soul or calypso music can uplift and inspire us, releasing deep joy or even deep sadness, conveying wit and affirming our common humanity. Salsa, rhumba, merengue and any form of South American music sets our hearts racing, gets us moving, both relaxing us and awakening us at the same time. Big band, Top 40 and country music engage our emotions and comfort us. Rock music, from Elvis Presley to the Rolling Stones, stirs passion and activity, and so can release daily tensions. Rock can also mask pain and cover up unpleasant noises. It also has the power to create dissonance, stress or physical pain if we are not in the mood for energizing. Ambient or New Age music such as Stephen Halpern and Brian Eno has no dominant rhythm, so it elongates the sense of space and time, inducing a state of relaxed alertness. Heavy metal and hip-hop music excites our nervous system, and sometimes leads us into acting out dynamic behavior and self-expression. Religious and sacred music such as hymns and gospel moves us to feel grounded in the moment, and leads to deep peace and spiritual awareness. Sacred music often helps us to transcend pain.

Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy," by David D Burns

I can recommend a good book: "Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy," by David D Burns. I've suffered from depression for most of my life, but since reading this book and implementing its suggestions, I feel greatBy the way, Burns has recommended in his workbook, "Feeling Good: Workbook" that people who suffer from anxiety depression can get relief from Benadryl--I know, I know; that's not what it is known for, but that's how it can be used. Apparently it is a non-addictive, mild tranquilizer that also lifts your spirits. I use it myself. Max dosage is 300mg per day; 50mg per 4 hours. I have found that Bendaryl is most affordablely available in sleep aid form. That's right, many sleep aids have benadryl in them (Diphenhydramine HCL--generic name).TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT IT.PS When you say Sydney, do mean Sydney, Australia? If Sydney is in the U.S., you should know that most counties in the U.S. provide low-cost or no-cost mental health therapy. Check your phone book's blue pages (federal, state, county, and municipal phone numbers). I also want to recommend light-therapy; I'm talking about full-spectrum lights (that don't emit UV radiation); these lights are very helpful. I use one. They're moderately priced--mine cost $175.00 US dollars. Here's a site for you to visit:http://www.fullspectrumsolutions.com/ (you don't need a light "box," a regular light will do--I have a floor lamp.)If you feel comfortable doing so, you may email me, and I will discuss my experience with depression. There is also a website for all sorts of medical problems including depression, its address is:http://www.healthboards.com/boards/index…and another resource is the Depression Chat Room; its address is:http://www.depressionchat.com/ (The depression message board is decent, but there's a lot of advertising on this site.)Here's another site: http://www.depressionroom.com/OK, well good luck to you both...
